Lemon Tahini Salad with Radishes, Dates & Sesame Seeds

I’m a firm believer that when you make a salad, the dressing should be the first part of the title, and that is exactly the case with this tahini date salad. The dressing should be the STAR. It’s everywhere!

I’m a firm believer that when you make a salad, the dressing should be the first part of the title, and that is exactly the case with this tahini date salad.

The dressing should be the STAR. It’s everywhere! It’s on everything! It holds the salad family together and is arguably the matriarch of the whole organization. If a salad is the mob, the dressing is the godfather.

And in this recipe, this dressing is IT. Like it’s so good. If I could put it on everything, I would. And arguably, I do. But on this salad it’s a different kind of perfect. The creaminess of the tahini plays perfectly with the crispness of the radishes and the sweetness of the dates. It’s heaven.

Ingredients you will need for the tahini lemon dressing

  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp chopped parsley
  • salt to taste

Ingredients you will need for the radish salad

  • 1-2 lbs radishes, julienned
  • 1/2 cup fresh dates
  • 7-8 large leaves of red cabbage
  • 3 tbsp toasted sesame seeds, for topping

How to bring the whole tahini date salad together

This salad is simple in the best way. The most work is the chopping and dicing, but after that it’s just assembly. Here’s how to pull it all together:

  • Whisk together the tahini, honey, lemon juice and parsley. Season to taste and set aside.
  • Chop the radishes and dice the dates and toss them in a bowl together. Pour the dressing over them and toss to coat.
  • Cut the red cabbage leaves into pieces that can form tiny cups, portion the radish salads into each cup, almost like you are making a small taco.
  • Top with the sesame seeds and enjoy!

Other serving suggestions for this radish salad

Of course, if you don’t want to serve this in the bite-sized format, feel free to chop up the red cabbage into shreds and make this a whole salad bowl. It will take less time to serve and assemble and will be more like a traditional salad, but with all the same flavors!
