 Gin de Cassis Cocktail

Oh wow, has this become my favorite cocktail. And it might *might* be the signature cocktail for my wedding! All the more proof that it’s that good. It’s a gin-based cocktail, with just a touch of black currant liqueur, and enough lemon juice to balance it all out. It’s boozy and sweet, without being overly sweet or packed with a bunch of unnecessary juice (between you and me, that’s one of my biggest cocktail pet peeves). The end result is something fresh but complex, which works wonderfully with a topper of club soda and a sprig of mint. Or you can just drink it on the rocks… which is also one of my absolute favorite things to do.

The ingredients you’ll need for this gin cocktail

This recipe makes about four drinks, so if you’re making less than that, divide the ingredient amounts accordingly. But everything in this delicious cocktail is pretty straight forward, other than the créme de cassis, which you can find at your local liquor store. Here’s what you’ll need for this gin cocktail:

  • 6 ounces gin
  • 3 ounces créme de cassis
  • 3 ounces fresh lemon juice
  • Club soda, for topping
  • Fresh mint, for garnish

Here are some of my favorites!

Broken Plane Cocktail

This is my take on the Paper Plane cocktail, served ice cold and with a slanted ice cube (see the blog post for more on that!) I swapped the Aperol for St. Germain, and switched the bourbon for gin, giving this floral cocktail notes of grapefruit, lemon and elderflower. It's a sophisticated drink that you can memorize and repeat!

Preserved Lemon Margarita

This quick cocktail recipe is the perfect balance of refreshing, bright and a little bit interesting. If you have preserved lemon brine leftover, this is exactly how to use it!

Cinnamon-Smoked Lambrusco Cocktail

A boozy, citrusy cocktail that's perfect for cold winter months. Though the cocktail is ice-cold, the cinnamon-smoked, citrus bourbon, and lambrusco combo will warm you right up.

And that’s everything for this Gin de Cassis Cocktail!

If you make it, please tag me on Pinterest or Instagram so I can see! It’s my favorite thing to scroll through stories and see what you all are making.

And of course feel free to leave any questions, comments or reviews! This is the best place to reach me, and I’d love to hear from you <3

Gin de Cassis

This easy, light gin-based cocktail has notes of black currant, thanks to the créme de cassis, which might not be a liqueur in your bar cart, but it absolutely should be. It makes this cocktail fruity but light, and boozy with a slight sweetness. I love this drink with a floater of club soda, but even just shaken on the rocks, it is still a winner.

The gin, lemon juice, and club soda really dilute the creme de cassis!
