Snickerdoodle Puppy Chow

4.50 | 2 reviews
I love puppy chow of all kinds, but I really love this festive snickerdoodle version! It captures everything I love in snickerdoodles - the cinnamon, sugar, and classic cream-of-tartar tang. Don't skip the cream of tartar, otherwise it will lose its signature snickerdoodle taste!

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 9 cups Chex cereal, 1 full box
  • 1 cup white chocolate, 198 grams / 7 ounces
  • 1/4 cup salted butter, 57 grams / 2 ounces
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons hot water
  • 2 cups powdered sugar, 280 grams / 9.9 ounces
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Diamond Crystal kosher salt

Instructions

  1. Add the Chex to a large bowl.
  2. Using the double-boiler method, melt the white chocolate, salted butter, and granulated sugar together. The mixture might separate, so quickly whisk in 3 tablespoons of boiling water to emulsify it into a smooth melted chocolate texture.
  3. Pour this over the Chex, cover the bowl and shake well to combine.
  4. Whisk together the powdered sugar, cream of tartar, cinnamon and salt. Pour this into the bowl with the Chex.
  5. Shake again until everything is well coated. Taste and add salt as preferred!
